ProsFit’s mission is: Leverage knowledge and technology to enable confident mobility.
Since its founding ProsFit has had a clear roadmap of technologies & competencies it planned to master or develop in order to build its platform of solutions.
At the beginning, with a focus on delivering products as medical devices these included shape & data capture, design & expert systems, software development, 3D modelling & design, additive manufacturing & materials, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) & simulation, strength evaluation, testing & standards, and the operating processes required for ISO certification.
In the next phase, widening the focus to prosthetics provision, ProsFit develop additional competencies including prosthetics configuration, multi-/ variable-material manufacturing, data capture & outcome measurement, cloud deployment, big data analytics & machine learning, and data privacy & security.
In the last 3 years, continuing to build upon the existing “platform elements” to build user-driven solutions for rehabilitation, ProsFit has developed solutions deploying robotics & sensors, video capture, full body modelling, pose estimation & gait analysis, and AI driven decision making.
Scroll down to dive into the ground-breaking technology that powers ProsFit’s solutions.
In 2013 ProsFit’s founders made a commitment to leverage available technologies to radically improve prosthetic fitting, positively changing lives.
Today ProsFit provides an alternative to the conventional manner of obtaining a prosthesis, allowing those with limb difference to get fitted anywhere, including at home, greatly reducing the time and challenges associated with the traditional process.
ProsFit has developed and successfully built a proven and market-ready "platform solution" for the industrialised design and manufacture of regulated custom-made sockets, at scale.
Its solution allows custom-made device design and specification, as well as the configuration, alignment, and option to order, the full prosthesis. Significantly outperforming traditional industry benchmarks, it allows prosthetics provision anywhere, including at home.
ProsFit’s streamlined, cost-effective & scalable digital solution enables Distributed Care globally, with benefits for all.
Scanning the residuum allows accurate shape capture, enabling comfortable socket design. Scans are used as the basis for custom-made medical device design.
Patient data provides input for component selection, prosthetics configuration, and alignment. Outcome data supports continuous improvement.
ProsFit’s innovative cloud-based digital platform and expert system allows the industrialised design & manufacture of regulated custom-made sockets, and the personalised configuration & alignment of the full prosthesis, anywhere, at scale.
ProsFit enables fast & effective service set-up, training & support, as well as highly flexible, digitally-enabled service delivery along the full “patient journey”.
For prosthetics provision, additive manufacturing is a “transformative technology”, enabling prosthetics provision to be “cheaper, faster, better”.
As life-determining medical devices, ProsFit’s sockets are designed to be safe for the user. By introducing industry standards and measuring against them, ProsFit is setting new benchmarks and driving adoption.
Prior to physical testing FEA & simulation is used to analyze, predict and optimize structural design and performance. FEA analysis has been carried out for all ProsFit socket families, and with simulation it is also used to complement Robotic Gait Simulation to predict kinematic outcomes and identify data to be collected during testing.
This allows the development of protocols for equipment setup, programming, use, variable testing, data collection and export. It helps validate characteristic stress maps, to be used for extrapolating stress distribution during gait without physical testing.
Already in 2014 ProsFit started conducting strength evaluation of prosthetic sockets, acquiring data to compare the strength characteristics to the actual force values involved in dynamic usage.
This showed that Additive manufacturing is a viable technology for prosthetic sockets and that ProsFit sockets meet the “Industry benchmarks” for structural performance.
Subsequent dynamic tests have been in compliance with ISO 10328 and loading conditions case II (P6), with sockets sustaining the complete 3’000’000 cycle dynamic test.
ProsFit has built a Robotic Gait Simulator (RGS) as part of its Digital Double development program.
The aim is to build data that can help to improve prosthesis comfort for persons with one or more lower-limb amputation, improving mobility by reducing joint, spine and tissue damage due to force dynamics, and pressure and strain/friction between the prosthesis and limb; also by optimising gait energy consumption.
The solution includes a 6-axis robot able to replicate human kinematics and enable testing of impacts of variable changes on force distributions and other collected data.
ProsFit has developed a solution using marker-less video capture, data and AI technology to assess and improve mobility of an amputee, reduce falls risks, and drive engagement, something that can be done at home.
Utilizing cutting-edge video-based pose estimation, this ensures high precision in monitoring, detection, and analysis, setting it apart from traditional methods.
Architected as an expert system ProsFit’s solution deploys machine learning approaches. With a critical mass of data, this allows automation of key tasks, including the design of sockets based purely on the scan and patient data.
ProsFit’s proprietary know-how and approach to machine learning and artificial intelligence will set new standards for prosthetics provision, required if the industry is to address the current global challenges i.e. only 30% of the World’s amputees have prosthetics, with a 60% shortage of clinical practitioners.
ProsFit’s solutions deploy advanced encryption and privacy measures to ensure the safety and confidentiality of user data according to GDPR and applicable best practices.
