ProsFit has a project based approach to innovation, building solutions, deployment and serving customers. This involves taking an “outside-in” perspective aligning its activities with market and user needs, and expectations. The business is effectively run as a portfolio of projects, allowing effective decision-making around how and where resources are deployed to meet constantly evolving dynamics.
Operating in this way also facilitates cooperation with partners, and also the provision of services to clients. Over the last 10 years ProsFit has conducted a number of successful projects, both internally, and in collaboration with external partners. These focused both on solution development and deployment.

With the support of Toyota
Mobility Foundation (TMF) ProsFit
has developed a solution using
marker-less video capture, data
and AI technology to assess and
improve mobility of an amputee,
reduce falls risks, and drive
engagement, something that can
be done at home.
Utilizing cutting-edge video-based
pose estimation, this ensures high
precision in monitoring, detection,
and analysis, setting it apart from
traditional methods.
On its next leap towards the edges
of innovation ProsFit collaborated
with SGL Carbon to develop and
commercialise the ProsFit Integral
prosthetic socket for elevated
weight rating.
As all ProsFit sockets ProsFit Integral
is designed in PandoFit to enhance
comfort, robustness and flexibility.
To stretch the innovation boundaries
even further the manufacturing
includes automated carbon
application.
ProsFit has built a Robotic Gait Simulator
(RGS) as part of its Digital Double
development program.
The aim is to build data that can help to
improve prosthesis comfort for persons
with one or more lower-limb
amputation, improving mobility by
reducing joint, spine and tissue damage
due to force dynamics, and pressure and
strain/friction between the prosthesis and limb.
The solution includes a 6-axis robot able
to replicate human kinematics and
enable testing of impacts of variable
changes on force distributions and other
collected data.
The ProsFit Natural variable-thickness
socket was designed for enhanced
comfort using PandoFit software, and
is manufactured via a global network
of certified partners.
The ProsFit Natural opened a new
chapter in enhanced comfort by
giving light weight feeling to the
wearer. And won the 2019 BIGSEE
Product Design Award, nominated for
the Leisure Category Grand Prix.
With minimalist, aesthetic and
ergonomic design, it’s light, elegant
and fashionable. Great to use, it can
be worn with pride.
Currently regulated in Europe, with
more markets to follow soon.
With the aim of further enhancing
comfort for limb wearers ProsFit
collaborated with BASF to develop
the ProsFit Flex.
Designed in PandoFit it is
manufactured to fit precisely with
both the residual limb and the
definitive outer socket.
With the ability to manufacture the
inner socket in different thicknesses
this provides an additional means to
easily accommodate volume
change.
ProsFit’s end-to-end digital
solution has been adopted to
develop other devices that
interface with the body, including
protective equipment, orthotics,
exoskeletons, seating & supports.
Wearing customised protective
face masks designed & made by
ProsFit from a scan, a number of
players are back in the game with
confidence after injury.
A fitting solution. Great goal
achieved!
In 2021 – 22 ProsFit collaborated with a Swiss foundation to investigate the potential to custom-design and additive manufacture “utility modules” for upper limb amputees.
As part of the project ProsFit extended PandoFit to include upper-limb socket design for trans-radial amputations, full prosthesis configuration of available terminal devices & alignment.
PandoFit now allows customers to fit ProsFit Optimal Trans-Radial sockets, for use with clinician/user-selected terminal devices.
Based upon experience ProsFit may in future develop some utility devices

In 2015, ProsFit conducted a project in the UK called HomeFitting aimed at demonstrating the benefits of the low cost and mobility of scanning and printing prosthetic sockets, by taking the service directly to an individual’s home.
For the HomeFitting project, ProsFit partnered with five other organizations.
The initiative involved home fittings for 10-12 trans-tibial amputees who could walk without walking aids. Their experience was being carefully monitored for research purposes.
The aim of the 2016 project “From Myth to Reality” financed by Handicap International was to analyse the benefits and issues related to the provision of trans-tibial prostheses using digital technologies to persons living in Togo, Madagascar and Syria. Handicap International, Strathclyde University, Proteor and ProsFit aimed to establish a new means of intervention in the physical rehabilitation field, and developed a prosthetic fitting protocol using 3D printable prosthetics.
During 6-months 24 patients were fitted in 3 sites (Lomé, Mahajanga, Homs), providing information on patient satisfaction levels, quality and cost-benefits.
In 2020, together with local partners, and funded by Toyota Mobility Foundation, in 2020/2021 ProsFit completed a 1-year “Changing Lives” project across Bulgaria to demonstrate the benefits of digitally-enabled prosthetics provision, including outreach to amputees in remote areas.
The project fitted 60 trans-tibial and trans-femoral prosthetics, with more than half at home. The project also included preliminary application of advanced data modelling techniques to analyse the patient journey from custom prosthesis design to delivery, rehabilitation, and enhanced mobility
If good prosthetic fitting is not being provided in a limb-wearer’s home country, they may also come to Bulgaria, and get fitted by ProsFit and its partners.
Amputees have already travelled to Bulgaria from other European countries, as well as the USA, an experience described as being a breath of fresh air. In one case the trip to Bulgaria, including two new prosthetics cost less than the co-pay for all the badly fitting sockets over the previous 2 years.
In 2018 ProsFit’s solution was successfully deployed in a conflict zone in the Middle East. Using telehealth approaches, 39 amputees were successfully fitted during the project.
The scanning of the limbs was done by physiotherapists in the refugee camps, the scan files sent to a prosthetist in Europe, who designed the sockets. The sockets were manufactured in Europe, boxed up with the necessary components and sent back into the country. The fitting & alignment was done by the physiotherapists, supervised by the European prosthetist.
